On Friday May 31, Saturday, June 1, and on Sunday, June 2, 2013, Tweedy Mile Association, in cooperation with the City of South Gate, will celebrate its 22nd Annual Tweedy Mile Street Fair. Taking place between California and Alexander streets, on Tweedy Bl., the fair attracts over 250,000 visitors from the Los Angeles County South East communities. On Tuesday, February 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. Tweedy Mile Association Board Members, the Beautification Committee, the South Gate Chamber of Commerce, and the City of South Gate Council and City Departments celebrated the Phase One completion of planned improvements on Tweedy Boulevard with the official unveiling of entrance monument signs and both ends of Tweedy Mile.

Tweedy Mile Association celebrated its 5th Annual Art & Family Night on Tuesday, March 16th at the South Gate Park Auditorium. After judging the overwhelming amount of contest entries, on May 14, 2011 the organization awarded 16 winners. City of South Gate Mayor Maria Davila, Art Night Chair Rene Ornelas, and Program Director Sharon King with the South Gate Arts Association, handed award checks and recognitions from U.S. Congresswoman Linda Sanchez. The event’s judges divided the awards in two main categories: Day of the Event entries, and Take Home entries. |

The Tweedy Mile Association in order to strengthen its stakeholder representation, elected three new board members-at-large. These are: Grant Pstiryan, owner for a year of Wing House restaurant; Joe Moschetti, former South East Sports owner, and current retail landlord on Tweedy Blvd.; and Greg Martinez former owner of Tweedy Hardware, and former City of South Gate Mayor.
After their formal introductions to the sitting TMA board members, they were sworn in by Attorney, John Gottes, Jr. Transition for new board members: At the end of the meeting the new board members received a copy of TMA’s bylaws, a copy of the 2010-2011 financial statements, and copies of the IRS and State of California 501 c (3) incorporation letters. In the next regular board meeting new members will sign an affidavit acknowledging that they have received and read the bylaws, and therefore owning to their fiduciary responsibility under the organization’s charter. TMA is looking forward to work with these new members and tap into their energy and commitment to revitalize our commercial district.
