A Message From Xavier Sibaja
Dear Tweedy Mile Stakeholder,

As Tweedy Mile Association is going through a challenging situation to secure needed funding, in order to continue its neighborhood revitalization efforts, the Board of Directors made the though decision of suspending the Executive Director’s position during this transition.

Honoring 2011 Art Night Winners

Tweedy Mile Association celebrated its 5th Annual Art & Family Night on Tuesday, March 16th at the South Gate Park Auditorium. After judging the overwhelming amount of contest entries, on May 14, 2011 the organization awarded 16 winners.

City of South Gate Mayor Maria Davila, Art Night Chair Rene Ornelas, and Program Director Sharon King with the South Gate Arts Association, handed award checks and recognitions from U.S. Congresswoman Linda Sanchez. The event’s judges divided the awards in two main categories: Day of the Event entries, and Take Home entries.

Welcome New Board Members

The Tweedy Mile Association in order to strengthen its stakeholder representation, elected three new board members-at-large. These are: Grant Pstiryan, owner for a year of Wing House restaurant; Joe Moschetti, former South East Sports owner, and current retail landlord on Tweedy Blvd.; and Greg Martinez former owner of Tweedy Hardware, and former City of South Gate Mayor.

After their formal introductions to the sitting TMA board members, they were sworn in by Attorney, John Gottes, Jr.

Transition for new board members: At the end of the meeting the new board members received a copy of TMA’s bylaws, a copy of the 2010-2011 financial statements, and copies of the IRS and State of California 501 c (3) incorporation letters. In the next regular board meeting new members will sign an affidavit acknowledging that they have received and read the bylaws, and therefore owning to their fiduciary responsibility under the organization’s charter.

TMA is looking forward to work with these new members and tap into their energy and commitment to revitalize our commercial district. For a full roster of the TMA board please click on the "About US" option in this site.
